General Information
The Nordic Society for Radiation Protection (NSFS) is a member of the International Radiation Protection Association (IRPA). The aim of the society is dedicated to the development and dissemination of knowledge and experience on protection against ionizing and non-ionizing radiation. This work is mainly done through the arrangement of general conferences within the Nordic countries, where members can meet and exchange views and information. At the General Assembly in Malmö 2023, it was decided that the next NSFS conference shall be arranged in Norway in 2025.
The (20th) NSFS Conference will start at lunch 27th August and closes at lunch 29th August 2025 in the city of Lillehammer, Norway.
Call for Abstracts
The Board of NSFS cordially invites you to submit abstracts to the conference. These must be submitted electronically, by following the instructions on the NSFS homepage (nsfs.org). Abstract templates will be provided together with the abstract submission instructions. The abstracts will be reviewed by the NSFS scientific committee and assigned to appropriate session. The conference language will be English.
You are invited to submit an abstract of any topic within the broad range of radiation protection for presentation or as a poster. Topics may include but are not restricted to:
- New challenges in radiation protection
- Radiation protection in medicine, research and industry
- Nuclear energy in a new area
- Decommissioning
- Radioactive waste management
- Environmental radiology and monitoring
- NORM including Radon
- Non-ionzing radiation
- Emergency preparedness

The on-line registration form is now available. Early bird registration fees applies for payment before May 1, 2025.

- Non-NSFS (early bird) 425 EUR (5.000 NOK)
- NSFS (regular fee) 410 EUR (4.800 NOK)
- Non-NSFS (regular fee) 510 EUR (6.000 NOK)
Young NSFS members
Financial support to cover travel costs and conference fee will be available to several young NSFS members (early career/PhD students and similar). More information on how to apply for financial support will be made available at nsfs.org
Conference venue, accommodation and transport
The conference venue will be at the Scandic Lillehammer Hotel. A block of rooms have been pre-booked. Room reservations at reduced price must be made directly to the hotel before May 25, 2025 stating the conference AOB code BNOR270825.
Lillehammer is located 145 km north of the Oslo Airport, OSL. There is a train connection to Lillehammer every hour, travel time approx. 1:45 h.
Social events
Conference dinner will take place in the evening of Thursday August 28. At Scandic Lillehammer Hotel. A cruise with the world’s oldest paddle steamer, Skibladner, is planned on Wednesday August 27.
